Green Talks 2024 will feature our annual fast-paced sustainability session. Hear five rapid-fire presentation segments where speakers will present interesting and engaging 5-minute talks on all things sustainability. Meet our speakers
Clea Wells, Retail Program Manager, FoodMesh - At FoodMesh, Clea creates and manages partnerships with charities and other organizations intent on making social and environmental impacts through food recovery. Clea has a background in government procurement, legal and social enterprise sectors, spanning over 15 years across two continents. She is passionate about forgoing connections to foster responsible growth, enable change and elevate diverse perspectives.
Hamish Khamisa, Founder & Creative Lead, Sparx Publishing Group - Hamish co-founded SparxTrading.com in 2011, a financial literacy portal aimed at providing transparent and trustworthy information for self-directed investors and promoting a level playing field in the world of online brokerages. Hamish also established Sparx Publishing Group, a certified minority-owned and -led digital marketing agency based in British Columbia theat seeks to effect positive change by accelerating the growth and awareness of sustainable and regenerative businesses and organizations. Hamish boasts a diverse background in artificial intelligence, psychology, biochemistry, financial markets, healthcare, and public health policy and planning. He is passionate about leveraging ideas, inspiration, and insight to solve intriguing problems.
Ben Patton, Founder & CEO, TreeCycle Canada - Ben is the Founder and CEO of TreeCycle, a for-profit circular-based business leading the transition to zero waste and strengthening sustainability practices within Urban Forestry and Urban Wood Utility. A recognized thought leader and changemaker, this award-winning forestry professional is dedicated to seeing wood waste from tree removal be responsibly managed during arboriculture operations. Ben is also a Director for the North Shore Streamkeepers (non-profit), a mentor for the UBC Forestry Undergraduate Program, and a 'Green Jobs Mentor' for PLT Canada; as well as a loving husband and father of two.
Gabriel Nikdel, Co-Founder, ZeroTrek - Gabriel Nikdel, along with his Co-Founder Babak Safadost, created ZeroTrek, a company whose mission is to empower other companies to combat climate change and take concrete steps towards positively impacting future generations. Gabriel has a Masters of Business Administration, and has experience and knowledge in ESG, Sustainability, and Carbon Emissions Management.
Deanna Ambrose, Communications Director, Salish Eleements - Deanna is the Communications Director for Salish Elements. After Earning her Bachelors degree in Journalism from the University of Kansas, she worked in technology consulting for 5 years. She takes insights from members of the internal team, First Nations partners, and industry partners to create internal reports, press releases, marketing and communication materials and presentations to give voice to the company and narrate the story of Salish Elements.
