Laying the Groundwork: Delivering Critical Infrastructure Amid Economic Uncertainty

May 21, 2026 (7:30 AM - 9:00 AM) (PDT)

Description

Join Metro Vancouver Board Chair Mike Hurley, Vice Chair John McEwen, and Board Director/Governance Committee Chair Lisa Dominato for an update from Metro Vancouver, the organization responsible for planning and delivering essential regional services to over half of BC’s population.

Chair Hurley, Vice Chair McEwen, and Director Dominato will offer insights into the current challenges of delivering critical housing-enabling infrastructure amid today’s increasingly complex political and economic environment. They will also highlight progress on the organization’s major regional infrastructure projects and governance.

Updates will be provided on Metro Vancouver’s water and liquid waste capital programs, including the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant Project, and explain how the Boards are responding to affordability concerns by evaluating different financial policy options.
